Little Balls of Toxic Gas…no, not that kind!
I haven’t thought about mothballs for a very, very long time. It’s not something anyone would think about I’d imagine. But my daughter told me some of her jumpers/sweaters have holes in them and after investigating I realized a little tiny moth had snacked on them. That was it! My daughter wanted to take the moth down, but I told her I’d make a little herb bag and hang it in the cupboard and it wouldn’t snack on her clothes anymore (fingers crossed). I’ve never liked the smell of mothballs and after seeing what ingredients are used to kill them, thank God we don’t use them anymore, in fact, it’s pretty much outdated and not needed. We now have fly screens on our windows, very few clothes are made of natural fibres (which is a real shame) but the moths don’t like the artificial fibres and so we really don’t need those little toxic balls. I came up with an easy option to naturally repel them and it was super easy! The only thing is I have cats and unfortunately a lot of essential oils are highly toxic to cats, so what I chose are safe options in case the little buggers decided to be nosey.
What I did: Grab a little burlap/hessian bag and fill it with cotton wool balls, then add a few drops of Cedar-wood essential oil, Lemongrass essential oil and Rosemary essential oil and then tie it up in your closet and/or your linen cupboard.
It really does works!
