Should we be concerned about Aluminum in Deodorants?
I came across an article about aluminium in deodorants causing cancer and how it has been completely blown out of proportion. I’m one of the many who have advocated no aluminium and now reports from the Cancer Council, the Cancer research U.K and the European Commission Scientific Committee on Consumer Safety are saying that there are no links between Deodorants with Aluminum and breast cancer.
Still, I’m in two minds on whether I should believe the reports, but it’s the Cancer Council and European Commission for God’s sakes, they wouldn’t make things up…right? I must admit I have struggled to find a non-toxic deodorant that has worked for me, some work for a while and then my body gets used to it…it’s so frustrating! So I’m still on my quest for a non-toxic deodorant that doesn’t make me smell or sweat and cause wet patches under my t-shirts…if you have a good one that really works, hit me up because I swear I’ve tried most of them.
Although there are reports that claim aluminium deodorants don’t cause breast cancer, how about the link to Alzheimer’s?
I guess what I take from all of this is, less is more and always read the ingredients, if Fragrance or Parabens or words with: “METHYL”, “BUTYL”, “PROPYL” or “BENZYL” is in the list, stay clear away, they’re carcinogens.
Look sometimes I switch between my A’kin natural deodorant spray and my Simple roll-on 0% alcohol, parabens, phthalates, perfume but it still has aluminium and a few other little nasties and that’s why I only use it if I desperately need it.
